As the temperature drops outside, gnats are taking refuge indoors, flying around plants and annoying householders who try to wave them away.
Sciarid flies, also known as fungus gnats, are most active in autumn and spring.
“This year, I’ve noticed more than normal and I suspect it’s because it’s been a warm summer and a warm autumn,” says Kenneth Freeman, expert on interior plant welfare and technical director at commercial interior plants specialist Ambius. “That’s extended the season.”
